- Step 3: click on the update information button
- Step 4: fill out your new bank account information (bank’s name, account number, and routing number)
- Step 5: double check all the information, submit the request, and wait for confirmation.
Besides going through these basic steps in more detail, we will also cover any additional information you should be aware of when changing your direct deposit at UPS.
What You’re Going to Need
Changing your direct deposit UPS information is a fairly simple process. Here’s what you will need besides nerves of steel:
- A laptop or computer with a strong internet connection,
- The email and password to your UPS employee account,
- Your new bank account information – your bank’s name, new account number, and routing number.
Step 1: Go to the UPS Website and Log Into Your Account
The very first thing you need to do is go to the UPS website and log into your employee account. You will need your email address and your password. In case you forgot your account password, don’t worry – it’s not the end of the world.
You can submit a request for a password reset by clicking on the forgot password page and entering your employee ID number. Watch this video if you need more information on how to log into your USP account.
Step 2: Locate the Direct Deposit Payment Information Page
Once you have logged into your account, you need to find the page where you can change your direct deposit payment information. This page is listed under Update personal information/profile, and if you can’t find it at the top of the page, you can always find it easily by scrolling down to the end of the page and clicking on general help and support, and the page you’re looking for should appear under additional topics.
Step 3: Click on the Update Information Page
Once you’ve found and opened the Update personal information/profile page, you will need to find the section dedicated to your payment information change. Click on it, and a new direct deposit form will appear.
Step 4: Input Your Updated Account Information Into the Form
You will need to fill out a direct deposit change request form. Start by filling out your name and employee ID number or SSN. Next, fill in the box related to your pay cycle – do you get paid at an hourly, monthly, or semi-monthly rate?
After you’ve filled out all our personal information, you can move on to the next portion of the form – filling out your bank account information. You will need to provide your bank’s name, transit/routing number, account number, and account type. You will also need to put in your address, city, state, and zip code.
You can also choose to put in up to two secondary/additional direct deposit accounts and the amounts you want. You will also be notified that, during the processing stage, you will receive an paycheck for that month.
Step 5: Double Check the Information Before Submitting the Form and Wait for Confirmation
Since you don’t want your paycheck to be deposited into the wrong bank account and go into the wrong hands, you should double-check all the information you’ve put into the form. Everybody makes mistakes, and when it comes to your next paycheck, you don’t want to take any chances.
From the bank’s name to every digit in your bank account number – make sure to read everything carefully at least two times to ensure all the information is correct. After proofreading everything, submit the filled-out form. In some cases, you will need to confirm the changes, usually via email.
Once you have sent out everything, you should get some sort of confirmation that the change has been accepted and that your account information has been updated successfully.
Now all that’s left to do is wait until payday and see if your pay appears in your new bank account.
In some cases, if you made the changes a bit later in the month, the change may not get processed in time, so your pay could still end up in your previous bank account. That’s perfectly normal. However, if your paycheck gets deposited into your old bank account the next month as well, you should contact UPS’s HR department or support center and see what went wrong.
Even though the easiest way to change your account payment information is online, through the UPS website, if you’re having trouble doing it through the online form, you will be happy to know that you can also update your information in person. All you have to do is go to a UPS location, bring a valid form of identification, and fill out and submit the paper form.
